How Klabauter actually gets built.

I'm not building Klabauter from roadmap slides or quarterly OKRs. I'm building it on the principle that has served me best as a developer: disciplined dogfooding. Use it every day. Note every friction. Fix every bug. Build every missing feature. And every issue the community files on GitHub flows straight into the next build.

Klabauter exists because my own project graveyard got out of control. Here are the real numbers from development — every analysis verified on real, own projects.

You file a feature request, bug, or question on the repo. I usually reply within 24-48h.

Triage onto the roadmap

I check the tracker daily. Whatever I also need — which is plenty — lands on the roadmap immediately. What doesn't fit gets an honest explanation.

Build in the daily driver

I build features in the Klabauter instance I use myself. If it works, I know by the next morning at the latest — my morning greeting tells me.

Release, signed & notarized

New versions ship as a Developer-ID-signed, Apple-notarized DMG. No Gatekeeper dance, no terminal, no exception dialogs.

  • → Reply on every issue (24-48h, solo-dev honest)
  • → Frequent beta releases during active development
  • → An honest "no, this doesn't fit the vision" when warranted
  • → Free for the entire beta — then a fair one-time price

  • · A concrete price or date for after the beta (not decided yet)
  • · A support SLA with response-time guarantees (solo dev)
  • · Open source — not for now
  • · Windows or Linux — Mac-only by design
